Dedication of Alois Courtyard Garden

Family, friends, and staff of the Alois Center joined together for a dedication ceremony on Friday, November 2, for the dedication of the Alois Courtyard Garden in memory of  a former resident.

The family dedicated many volunteer hours into "sprucing up" the garden area; painting the outdoor furniture, and adding a fountain area and small mosaic stepping stones in the center of the Garden area.

Alois staff followed their progress throughout the summer months and through the final completion: A mural designed by the family and created by Suzanne Fisher Mosaics. The mural has been placed on the wall in the Courtyard Garden for all to see as they visit the area.

The mosaic design has special meaning to the family as well as the staff of the Alois Center.  The mosaic was designed with the residents favorite colors as well as the gazebo where the family spent time when visiting their loved one.  The leaves of the tree have words of gratitude and love from the family for the staff.

The Alois staff sends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the family for all their love and dedication.

Sipping on a fine assortment of tea's and nibbling on delicate pastries while listening to music from the 1940's made for a relaxing refined afternoon. Gifts that continue to give at Alois Alzheimer Center 2012

The Greenhills Threads of Comfort are a group of talented women who meet each Tuesday at the Greenhills Presbyterian Church. They volunteer long hours to give back to the community. The Alois Alzheimer Center was one of two organizations chosen as recipients of these wonderful creations.

In December we were grateful to receive comfort blankets sewn with love from the Greenhills Threads of Comfort group for our residents. Residents have been using the blankets as they watch a movie, play games, read or enjoy many other daily activities.

Alois Alzheimer Center Employee of the Quarter

Congratulations to Kathy Hines on receiving Employee of the Quarter! Kathy states she is "humbled and honored to receive this recognition." As a valued employee of over 18 years at the Alois Alzheimer Center, Kathy worked in various roles before discovering that the STNA position was where she belonged. Her daily interactions with residents, family members and co-workers are a very rewarding part of her job. Kathy said she is "proud to be associated with the best Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati." For Kathy care of the residents is her number one priority, and to work with genuine people that care, as she does, is a gift. She looks forward to volunteering during her off time to help with resident outings. She believes strongly that, "normal time away from the Center needs to be part of the resident's daily life," and helps to make that happen.

For the care, time and devotion she gives to the Alois Alzheimer Center, we are proud to honor her with, The Employee of the Quarter! Congratulations Kathy!
